Information Email (Sent June 11, 2024)

 

We are delighted to welcome you to Atlanta for the International Medical Geography Symposium (IMGS) 2024, taking place July 14-19, 2024. Below are a few important announcements:

 

Conference Updates: We are thrilled to announce that we have received approximately 180 registrations for IMGS 2024! We have an exciting week packed with activities and social events for you: 

  • Welcome reception on Sunday, July 14
  • Breakfast and Meet the Editors on Tuesday, July 16
  • Early career reception on Tuesday, July 16
  • Field trip all day on Wednesday, July 17
  • Breakfast and professional networking session on Thursday, July 18
  • Conference dinner (ticketed event) on Thursday, July 18
  • Informal walk and tour of the MLK Historic District on Friday, July 19
  • Pizza lunch and student awards session on Friday, July 19
  • Atlanta Braves baseball game on Friday, July 19

Additionally, we have a pre-conference workshop on Sunday and close to 50 sessions, including paper and poster sessions, panel discussions, featured talks, and 10 student paper/poster competition sessions. Details of the field trip are available in the preliminary program guide (see below).

 

Venue Updates: The location of the symposium has switched from the Hyatt to the Georgia State University School of Law, located about two blocks away from the Hyatt. Our recommendations for accommodations remain unchanged.

 

Hotel Information: We have a limited number of rooms being offered at a discounted rate at the Marriott Residence Inn located right across the conference venue. Please use this link to reserve rooms: https://www.marriott.com/event-reservations/reservation-link.mi?id=1714746486670&key=GRP&app=resvlink. Please note that the discounted rate will end on June 21, 2024.

 

Preliminary Program: The preliminary program is now available. There are several ways to check the program schedule:

  • Click on the IMGS 24 Program link on our conference portal: https://indico.imgs2024.org
  • Use the "Search for Presentations" link on the conference portal to find specific people or papers
  • Log in to the portal and click on "My Conference" -> "My Contributions"

To request a change in your schedule, please reach out to the organizers at https://www.imgs2024.org/contact.html. 

 

Survey: Please log in to the conference portal (https://indico.imgs2024.org) and click on the "Surveys" link to indicate your participation in events, any special needs, or your willingness to serve as a judge in the student paper/poster competition. Please note that the survey will close on June 16, 2024.

 

Field Trip and Conference Dinner Tickets: If you wish to bring friends or family members on the field trip, please indicate this in the survey. The field trip cost for each additional member is USD 65. If you would like to purchase additional tickets to the conference dinner, the cost is USD 75 per person. We have limited spots available for both, so please let us know as soon as possible through the survey.

 

Incomplete Registrations: If you haven’t completed your registration yet, please do so by visiting the conference portal at (https://indico.imgs2024.org). To check your registration status, please log in to the portal, select IMGS 2024, and then the Registration link in the left menu. Click on "Check Details" to see your registration status. A green bar with the message “Your registration has been completed” indicates we have all the information we need!

We hope you are looking forward to the upcoming International Medical Geography Symposium (IMGS) 2024 in Atlanta. As the event approaches, we wanted to share a few important reminders with you:

1. Survey Deadline:
The last day to fill out the survey for conference activities is this Friday, June 28, 2024. Please log in to the conference portal at https://indico.imgs2024.org and click on the “Surveys” link to indicate your participation in events, any special needs, or your willingness to serve as a judge in the student paper/poster competition.

2. Hotel Discounted Rooms:
Today (6/25) is the last day to take advantage of the discounted room rates at the Marriott Residence Inn, located right across the conference venue. To reserve your room, please visit the conference portal at https://indico.imgs2024.org and select the Discounted Hotel Block link in the menu. 

3. Poster Guidelines and Conference Information:
Poster guidelines and other important conference information are now posted on the conference website. Please visit https://indico.imgs2024.org.

Please watch for updates on the conference portal at https://indico.imgs2024.org 

We have posted information about the program guide and how to get information about the various sessions and conference events including field trip (see Demo: Program Guide in the menu for more information).

You can also check your registration status by logging into the portal (https://indico.imgs2024.org), clicking on Registration and then Check Details. A green bar indicates you are registered for the event and we have all the information we need. You can also check the status of your field trip and dinner confirmation on this page. If you selected Yes for either or both of these events during registration, you are already enrolled.

We are excited to remind you of the upcoming workshops at the International Medical Geography Symposium on Sunday, July 14th. Below are the details for each session:

Workshop 1: No Code Spatial Analytics in Alteryx led by Deanna Sanchez
Time: Sunday, 7/14 from 1pm to 3pm

Workshop 2: Spatial (Hierarchical) Bayesian Prediction & Mapping using MS Excel ONLY (No GIS/stat experience necessary!) led by Rudy Banerjee 
Time: Sunday, 7/14 from 3pm to 6pm
